Is it bad for babies to sleep on their stomach?
Is it bad for babies to roll onto their side or tummy when they are sleeping?
Should I buy a sleeping positioner to keep bubs on his/her back?
If your baby can roll over, it’s fine for them to sleep any way up they like. It’s only dangerous for them to sleep on their stomach if they can’t get off it.
I wouldn’t buy a sleeping positioner unless there’s a medical reason for it. How would _you_ like to be wedged into a sleeping position so you couldn’t roll over?
aww.. bubs

It depends on how old the baby is.
It is against recommendation from SIDS but I think if the baby can roll and have strong head movement then its OK to leave them to sleep on their tummy. Most babies likes sleeping on their tummy.

the SIDS people say its bad to let them sleep on their tummy till they can roll onto it themselves, i never used a sleep positioner for my son. the SIDS people also say no pillows, bumpers, toys, doonas…
all the recommend is bubs on back, swaddled and tucked in with bunny rugs

It is good if they do. Frequent sleeping on their back flattens the head behind, so be happy when the baby sleeps on its side or stomach.

Okay…so this is a controversial question really…here’s why. For the longest time, it was said that babies need to sleep on their tummies to prevent SIDS…which came from baby aspirating (throwing up and it going back down their throat and choking them) and if baby was on his/her tummy and threw up, there would be no way that they could choke and die. Now they say back sleeping reduces SIDS…for some reason that is totally unknown. They say that if baby is on their back, then the likelihood of them suffocating in their sleep is greatly reduced…So the real answer is whatever makes you as a mother and your baby feel comfortable. If baby wishes to sleep on their tummy, fine, let them…just be sure not to have anything except their blanket in the crib or bassinet to reduce to likelihood of suffocation. My baby has reflux (is now 4 months old) and even his pediatrician said that tummy sleeping is good for babies w/digestive system issues cause it puts pressure on the belly and helps to relieve gas and other tummy upsets. Don’t listen to this whole SIDS thing…for crying out loud, it’s a marketing ploy!!! And a good one too!!! They even make pacifiers that reduce SIDS…how the heck can a pacifier reduce SIDS?! It’s just not possible. You do whatever you feel as a mom is the right thing to do. There are hundreds of thousands of parents who let their babies sleep on their tummies and none of them are dying!!! If baby is comfortable, essentially mommy will be comfortable too…just trust your mom instincts

Babies often vomit milk. To prevent suffocating babies are slept on their back in Japan.

If they have good head control, and the ability to roll, then no. It’s recommended they sleep on their back to reduce the risk of SIDS, but once baby can roll, they will move to wherever is comfy. I had the unfortunate event of my son falling asleeping during tummy time at 8 weeks, and since then, he flat our right refuses to sleep on his back. Bless him, stressing me to tears.
If your baby can roll, then I wouldn’t worry with the positioner

Edit- my son is now nearly 5 and half months and can roll. He has had very good head control since about 10 weeks.
If thats how your baby is comfortable personally i dont see a problem with it as long as you can keep an eye so personally i wouldnt sleep my baby on her tummy overnight but during the day she loves to sleep on her front.
