Why do we get pains when we lift things during pregnancy?

I’m only 8 weeks pregnant with my second child and I get sharp pains in the stomach when lifting things (like my 1 year old) or even from rolling over in bed, or standing up too quickly.
I understand why we get these pains later in the pregnancy, but why do we get them at these early stages when the baby is only the size of a jellybean?!
This happened with my first pregnancy as well.

Thanks! =)

prolly cause even at 8wks your uterus has grown and thus has stretched your muscles out. they’re called round ligament pains and i’ve experienced them throughout my whole pregnancy, just at random intervals though. just take it easy on certain movements so that you don’t do any damage =]
