Like any other company, health insurance companies sell a number of
products, health insurance products. These products range from government
products to premier PPO products. Insurance products are governed on a state
by state or province by province basis. These localities will have an
insurance commissioner, charged with regulating the insurance companies that
operate in those areas. An example of a government product in the state of
California of the United States is the Medi-Cal product. A number of
insurance companies, such as Blue Cross and Health Net offer the Medi-Cal
government product, which is a Federally funded Medicaid health plan.
